Cozy Living at Lake Tegernsee

The Inhabitants set their own Trends

There is no right or wrong when it comes to interior styles. My clients’ wishes and needs set the foundation for me to design their homes. To achieve a comforting atmosphere I carefully curate authentic materials and high-quality products. In my eyes, appropriate wall and ceiling decorations that enhance the spatial situations are equally as important when designing interior spaces as the layout of the rooms themselves. An atmospheric, yet functional lighting concept also plays a vital role within an interior’s design.

Design Concept

For this project, my clients wanted to have a large combined living and dining room with an open kitchen layout. They also wanted the interior style to be appropriate for the region around Lake Tegernsee without rustic. Especially the quality of furniture and an authentic selection of materials were the clients’ main focus during the realization of their project.

I chose oak wood to construct the wall paneling. The wood is cut into individual strips which are mounted onto acoustic panels. To accompany the wood I decided to select linen and leather as the main textiles for the project. The slabs of Carrara marble used in the kitchen and bathrooms were carefully selected by me when visiting the quarry in Italy. All these materials come from sustainable origins and could also be used in a traditional Bavarian interior. For this project, I have presented them in a modern urban context to meet my clients’ expectations.

Atmosphere and Lighting

Light and natural colours need atmospheric lighting to create a comforting environment. This is crucial to prevent the room from feeling cold and bare. In conjunction with indirect lighting from LEDs, I have implemented sculptural lighting objects. Each of the lamps is unique and hand crafted in Belgium. They broadly resemble deer antlers and thus connect with the rural region around the lake.
