Room design rethought

Designing a room is an exciting journey and a creative challenge at the same time. Setup tips and rules from books, magazines or the Internet can provide assistance. But much of it does not achieve the desired effect and also limits our freedom of design.

Today I'm taking you on a journey of discovery through the ten biggest myths in interior design. Sometimes all it takes is a small change of perspective to see the full potential of a room. Perhaps by busting these myths, you will discover completely new ways to design your living spaces.

MYTHS AND FACTS: HOW TO DESIGN ROOMS WITHOUT COMPROMISE

Together we will uncover these misconceptions and I will show you how you can use simple but effective tricks to transform your room into a unique and homely oasis. Let's break the chains of old rules and let your creativity run wild!

Myth 1: Small rooms need to be bright.

Light colors can make a room appear larger - but that doesn't mean dark tones are off-limits. A targeted use of intense colors can give even small rooms an inviting depth and security. Dare!

Myth 2: Everything has to fit together.

Perfect harmony sounds tempting, but a mix of different styles and colors makes your home really interesting. Small breaks in style or individual accents add character and make your room distinctive.

Myth 3: Black walls make a room gloomy.

On the contrary: black can look incredibly elegant and stylish! With good lighting and bright contrasts, such as furniture or accessories, black becomes a real eye-catcher and creates depth.

Myth 4: Large furniture is not for small rooms.

Less is more – but furniture that is too small can make the room appear unruly. Well-proportioned, larger pieces of furniture add structure and calm to even small rooms. Try it!

Myth 5: Patterns make the room uncomfortable.

Patterns are fun and add exciting accents. Whether on cushions, carpets or wallpaper – when used consciously, patterns give your room liveliness and individuality.

Myth 6: Wallpaper is old-fashioned.

Wallpapers are experiencing a revival! They not only create coziness, but also create visual highlights. With the right proportion and design, they are the perfect addition to any room.

Myth 7: Neutral colors are boring.

Neutral colors can be real transformers. Combine different textures, materials and subtle tones to create a timeless yet exciting ambience.

FORGET BOUNDARIES - FIND CREATIVE SOLUTIONS

Myth 8: Wall decorations are optional.

Empty walls often appear cold and impersonal. Art, photographs or mirrors not only give a room life, but also tell your own personal story.

Myth 9: Interior design is only for high-end budgets.

Good design is not necessarily a question of money, but of planning. With creative solutions and a wise selection of materials and products, you can create a dream space for every budget.

Myth 10: Trends are the most important thing.

Trends come and go, but your home should reflect your personality. Be inspired, but only implement what really suits you and what you feel comfortable with in the long term.

Do you recognize yourself in any of these myths? Then let yourself be inspired and boldly break the old rules! Remember: There are no rigid guidelines when it comes to designing a space that really suits you. It is your home – and it should reflect your personality and needs.
