The Right Lighting

Lighting plays a crucial role in interior design and has a large influence on the atmosphere and functionality of a room. A carefully curated lighting concept is important to achieve the desired mood within the room and to bring enough light into the room.

The following aspects need to be considered:

• The lighting should enhance the functionality of the room by providing enough brightness. This is especially important in areas such as kitchens, offices, or bathrooms where bright, shade-free lighting is required.

• The lighting can help to create a pleasant atmosphere within the room. This can be achieved with the use of dimmable lamps, indirect lighting, or decorative lamps. Mood lighting can help to create relaxation and coziness in rooms such as living rooms, bedrooms, or dining areas.

• The colour temperature of the light affects the mood within the room. Warm light with low Kelvin values (2700K -  3000K) creates a relaxing atmosphere. Colder light with higher Kelvin values (4000K – 5000K) is more uplifting sand stimulating. The selection of colours can vary between rooms and their desired purpose.

• The use of different light sources and light layers allows for a flexible regulation of light depending on the different needs and activities. A combination of ceiling-, wall-, or table lamps creates balanced lighting and can highlight certain parts of the room.

• Accent lighting can highlight certain elements of the room such as artworks, architectural elements, or pieces of furniture. Spotlights or lamps with narrow light beams can be implemented to achieve the desired effect.

• The efficiency of the bulbs should also be considered. The use of LED lamps or energy-saving bulbs can reduce energy consumption while still providing a high quality of light.

It is important to consider individual needs and the use cases of each room when creating a lighting concept. Consulting a professional light planer or interior architect can be helpful in achieving the optimal solution for each room.
