What a home really means

The rooms in which we live and work have a direct impact on our well-being. They can give us energy or take it away - and thus affect not only our mood, but also our health and performance. Just as we dress warmly in winter to stay healthy, we should also design our home in such a way that it is good for us physically and mentally.

To create an interior design result that really suits you, you should ask yourself: What does home mean to me? Is it a place of retreat, meeting, working, a family base, a cozy den or perhaps a small wellness oasis? Your home should feel like your favorite piece of clothing - comfortable, fitting and entirely to your taste.

THE FIRST STEP: CREATE CLARITY

Before you start redesigning, it is important to be clear about your living needs. How do you want to live? What atmosphere should your home exude? A helpful method is to document the current state - for example with photos or a notebook in which you write down what you like and what you want to change.

COLLECTING INSPIRATION

A mood board can help you flesh out your ideas. Collect images of room designs, furniture, color combinations and materials that appeal to you. Add notes to these to organize your thoughts and find out what you really like

Let your surroundings inspire you! Perhaps you felt particularly comfortable in a restaurant or with friends - think about why. Was it the color scheme, the light, the materials or the feeling of the room? Just as important: make a note of what you don't like. This will also help you find your own style.

Collect and organize all your impressions. Do you like open living concepts or do you prefer separate rooms? Do you feel comfortable in large, airy rooms or do you like it cozy and secure?

By answering these questions for yourself and capturing your ideas visually, you will gradually create a home that reflects your personality - a place where you really feel comfortable.
